The Rapids went back to the future Monday, signing Tyrone Marshall. The veteran defender was a first-round draft pick of the Rapids in 1998.

The Major League Soccer champions signed Marshall after acquiring him via the MLS re-entry process last month.

Marshall (6-feet-2, 195 pounds) is in his 13th year in MLS. The Florida International product has twice been named an MLS all-star (2003 and 2005) and won the MLS Cup with Los Angeles in 2002 and 2005. He has 70 caps with the Jamaican national team.

Marshall, 36, was traded to Miami in his rookie season after playing 17 minutes in one game with the Rapids.
