FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Adam Nigon scored a season-high 21 points on seven 3-pointers and Colorado State overcame a 13-point deficit to beat Wyoming 73-60 Tuesday night.

Andy Ogide had 13 points and eight rebounds while Wes Eikmeier added 11 points for the Rams (11-4, 1-0 Mountain West), who have won seven of eight.

“I was in a rhythm,” Nigon said. “I didn’t force anything, and the ball felt good coming out of my hands.”

Wyoming coach Heath Schroyer said the problem was his defensive scheme was directed elsewhere.

“We picked our poison,” Schroyer said. “We wanted to take away Andy Ogide and Travis Franklin and Nigon beat us.”

Desmar Jackson had a season-high 24 points but only eight in the second half for the Cowboys (7-8, 0-1). Francisco Cruz added 14 points for Wyoming, which missed all eight of its 3-point attempts in the second half.

Colorado State, which swept Wyoming last year, finished 14 of 27 from 3-point range.

The Rams trailed by 13 in the first half before scoring 11 straight points to go into intermission down 39-37.

“Wyoming came out with great energy and rhythm on offense,” Colorado State coach Tim Miles said. “They punched us and we took a standing eight count in the first half.”

The Cowboys were 8 of 15 from beyond the arc in the first half and led 39-26 with 5:08 remaining after Jackson’s short jumper. Colorado State closed the gap to two points before halftime with seven points coming from Greg Smith.

“I thought the game was lost for us the last four minutes of the first half and the first four minutes of the second half,” Schroyer said.

The Rams tied it at 39 on Franklin’s layup 17 seconds into the second half. Wyoming managed only three field goals over the first six minutes of the half, and Colorado State cashed in, taking its first double digit lead, 59-49.

Jackson scored four straight points to make it 59-53, but Ogide responded by hitting a 3-pointer with the shot clock expiring. Eikmeier and Nigon later added 3s to give the Rams their largest lead, 68-55, with 5:52 remaining.

“When Ogide hit the 3 from the corner late in the game, that was the back breaker,” Schroyer said.

Wyoming scored only one point in the final 3:48.
