An employee was gunned down near the entrance of a Lakewood restaurant tonight, and police are talking to numerous witnesses to determine whether the shooting was random or deliberate.
“Right now, we’re still trying to determine what led to this,” said said Lakewood police spokeswoman Andrea Joo.
The victim’s name was not released, but he was rushed to St. Anthony Central Hospital in serious condition.
“At the time he was transported, his injuries were definitely life-threatening,” Joo said.
The shooting happened at El Torito Bar & Grill at West 10th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard at about 7:40 p.m.
Police are looking for a dark-colored sport-utility vehicle, but no other information about the assailant was released.
Crime-scene investigators were working outside and inside the restaurant, and Spanish-language interpreters were still interviewing witnesses inside the restaurant at 10 p.m.
