EAGLE, Colo.—Police in Eagle say messages they sent to a serial burglary suspect’s Facebook friends helped them find him.
Daniel Lewis Arment was arrested New Year’s Eve at a Boulder hotel bar. Jail officials didn’t make him available for comment Tuesday.
The Vail Daily reported that police started tracking him when a bag the suspect left behind at one victim’s home had items with his name on them. Police say they found stolen items in Arment’s home in Eagle last week.
Officers obtained an arrest warrant, and Sgt. Gordon Chicoine sent messages to Arment’s Facebook friends saying Arment had the “safe option” of turning himself in. Arment’s privacy settings on Facebook had left his friend list open to the public.
