Littleton- based TW Telecom on Wed nesday asked the Federal Communications Commission to set conditions on the pending merger between Denver- based Qwest and CenturyLink because the deal “poses a threat to competition and innovation in the business market.”
Among other things, TW Telecom wants the FCC to require the merged company to honor existing agreements for the exchange of Internet backbone traffic. Without the conditions, businesses will face rising costs and declining service levels, TW Telecom said.
Separately Wednesday, Qwest said the merger received approval from regulators in Utah. It still requires approval from the FCC and four additional states. Colorado recently green-lighted it.
