The driver of a Dodge Durango that crashed into the front doors of a Highlands Ranch pet store in November injuring six people will be cited for careless driving resulting in bodily injury.

Mary Anne McGee, 54, a resident of Carson, Calif., told investigators she was backing up from a parking space and the Durango wouldn’t stop going backwards.

However, two separate tests were conducted on the vehicle, one by the Colorado State Patrol and the other by Chrysler Corporation, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The results indicated that there was no apparent vehicle malfunction during the Nov. 5 incident at the Petco store at 1265 Sgt. John Stiles Drive.

Store customers and one store employee were injured, including a child.

The force of the collision damaged the interior of the store and scattered merchandise.

The six counts are class one misdemeanor traffic offenses.
