An Aurora toddler who was allegedly injured by his mother’s boyfriend has died, police said.
The incident happened Wednesday, and police have arrested Theo dore I. Madrid, 30, as a suspect in the death of the 2-year-old, according to an Aurora Police Department news release.
Both the boy’s mother and Madrid were home when emergency personnel were called to an apartment in the 100 block of Dayton Street about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said. The child died about 9:20 p.m. Thursday.
Madrid was being held at the Arapahoe County Jail. He was initially held on suspicion of child abuse resulting in injury, and bail was set at $500,000.
