The Gatorade Free Flow Tour is coming to Colorado this weekend, offering amateur snowboard and freeski athletes younger than age 21 the chance to earn a prequalified spot in next season’s Winter Dew Tour (2011-12). Vail Mountain will host halfpipe and slopestyle contests for skiers and snowboarders Saturday and Sunday, with the winners flying to Snowbasin Resort in Utah to compete in the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals, taking place in conjunction with the Winter Dew Tour’s Toyota Championship, Feb. 12-13. The two overall snowboard superpipe and slopestyle champions and the overall freeski superpipe and slopestyle champions at the Finals will earn a spot to compete against the pros at the first stop of the 2011-12 Winter Dew Tour the next season. All competitions are open to male and female amateur competitors 21 and younger for all freeski and snowboard disciplines. There is a $20 entry fee ($30 for both days), and all participants under age 18 must bring a parent or guardian to the event to sign a liability waiver. The Vail contest will also include a junior division, offering separate rail jam and superpipe contests for snowboard and freeski competitors 13 and younger.
