A man was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in prison for setting a horse barn on fire and killing 12 horses last year.

Narciso Amaya-Bustillos, 37, pleaded guilty to second-degree arson and aggravated cruelty to animals, both felony charges, in November, according to the Adams County district attorney’s office.

Amaya-Bustillos, who lost his arm three days after the fire in an attempt to flee the area by train, was ordered to pay $149,380 in restitution.
