DENVER—Investigators say a suspected car theft ring is responsible for stealing hundreds of vehicles in metro Denver.
Eight people were indicted in the case last week and four have been arrested. They’re accused of stealing cars and sport utility vehicles and taking credit cards, checks and whatever else they could find inside to fuel their methamphetamine habit.
The Denver Post says they shared the stolen vehicles and used them to break into parking garages to take even more cars.
One victim, who didn’t want to be identified, said his Yukon was stolen from his garage after he forgot to close the door. He also had left the keys on the console and the SUV was loaded up with snowboarding equipment for the road trip he planned the next day.
