CORTEZ, Colo.—Police say a Cortez woman told them her grandson aimed a handgun at her and pulled the trigger twice, but it misfired both times.
The Cortez Journal reported Saturday that 20-year-old Termain D. Yazzie has been arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder and other charges.
Yazzie is in custody with bail set at $35,000. He has not been assigned an attorney.
A police report says Elsie Green told investigators that Yazzie, her grandson, became angry on Jan. 6 because she wouldn’t let him borrow her vehicle. The report says after the misfires, Yazzie tinkered with the weapon’s ammunition clip and left the room.
Police say another grandchild called 911. Officers subdued Yazzie with Tasers.
Yazzie also faces charges of menacing, prohibited use of a weapon and underage alcohol consumption.
