There’s a new desktop Web browser in town, and it’s quite social. Rockmelt, which released a test version late last year, smoothly integrates features from social-media sites such as Facebook and Twitter into the Web-browsing experience. You can tweet, post status updates and message friends right from the edges of the browser. Facebook friends and their updates show up on the left-hand rail, while RSS feeds from sites such as The Denver Post and ESPN can be added to the right-hand rail, which essentially serves as a second bookmarks bar. There are other features that make Rockmelt () worth checking out. You’ll need to sign up for a invite, or receive one from a friend, to test the beta version.
