The best news DeAndre Elliott received when he returned home to Dallas on Monday was hearing that highly recruited prep rival Isiah Norton also made a pledge to play football for Colorado State.
“That’s good,” said Elliott, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound cornerback from Carter High School in Dallas.
National signing day is Feb. 2.
Norton, rated a three-star prospect by and a four-star prospect by , is a 6-5, 300- pound defensive tackle. He had offers from the likes of Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Tennessee. Norton took a trip to Fort Collins with a dozen other recruits last weekend.
Elliott said his other offer was from North Texas.
Lee Clubb, a 5-10, 185-pound multipurpose athlete, and Steve Michel, a linebacker from Orlando, Fla., also have pledged to sign with the Rams.

Woodson Greer, a 6-2, 220- pound linebacker at Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, Calif., plans to sign with Colorado.
Former CU stars Deon Figures and Jashon Sykes, a member of the Buffaloes’ operations staff, are Serra High School alumni.
Greer is a three-star prospect, according to . He also considered Arizona State, Michigan and San Diego State.

Big Sky salutes UNC sophomore.
Northern Colorado forward Lauren Oosdyke was named the Big Sky Conference women’s basketball player of the week.
Oosdyke, a sophomore from Coto de Caza, Calif., helped the Bears beat Eastern Washington and Portland State last week with averages of 21.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 assists. She scored a career-high 28 points against Portland State.
