Comcast Corp.’s proposed merger with General Electric Co.’s NBC Universal might win approval from the Federal Communications Commission as soon as today, two people close to the deal said.
Members of the agency negotiated over the weekend on terms for the merger, and a final document might be circulated today, said people who asked not to be identified because the FCC’s review hasn’t been made public.
The proposal to merge the largest U.S. cable company with a marquee broadcast network appears to have gained the support of four of the five FCC commissioners, the people said.
