The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident that left a man hospitalized and his son in jail, the Sheriff’s Office said today in a statement.

Officers found William Leake, 43, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head when they responded to Leake’s Eagle-Vail home at 1:24 a.m. after a 911 call from his 25-year-old son Nicholas Leake, the Sheriff’s Office said.

William Leake is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Grand Junction, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Officers arrested Nicholas Leake on suspicion of violating parole by being under the influence of alcohol. Nicholas is currently being held at the Eagle County Detention Facility.

The Sheriff’s Office said that William Leake made a statement indicating that the wound may be self-inflicted, but the incident is under further investigation.

William Leake’s current condition is not known.
