NEW YORK—It’s been nearly a year since Najibullah Zazi (nah-jee-BOO’-lah ZAH’-zee) pleaded guilty in a foiled terror plot that targeted the New York City subways. Zazi hasn’t been back in court since and probably won’t be until he’s called as a witness, possibly against his father.
The elder Zazi—Mohammed Wali Zazi—is charged with hiding evidence in the case against his son. But he isn’t scheduled for trial until July.
The younger Zazi admitted last February plotting suicide bombings on Manhattan lines during rush hour near the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks. A co-defendant has also pleaded guilty, and a third defendant has yet to be tried.
The younger Zazi could receive a life term in prison once he does return to court for sentencing.
