Paul Dawson’s goal with a minute and a half left completed Philadelphia’s comeback as the Wings rallied from a 7-3 halftime deficit to beat the Colorado Mammoth 11-10 at the Pepsi Center on Saturday night.
Brian Langtry had a hat trick for Colorado in the first half, but the Mammoth scored only three times in the second, two by new acquisition John Grant Jr., who also had six assists. Alex Gajic added a goal and three assists. Max Seibald, who plays for the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse and the Wings in the National Lacrosse League, had two goals.
The Mammoth outshot the Wings 51-41, but Philly goalkeeper Brandon Miller made 42 saves.
CU skiers triumph at Utah.
The University of Colorado ski team wrapped up the eight-race, two-weekend, alpine/nordic Utah Invitational with second- place finishes by the men’s and women’s nordic teams to claim first place overall.The Buffs accumulated 923 total points, followed by the host Utes (898), New Mexico (824.5) and Denver (710).
CU’s Vegard Kjoelhamar won the men’s 15-kilometer, and Jesper Oestensen was fourth.
Utah’s Maria Grafnings won the women’s 10K classical, followed by CU’s Eliska Hajkova and Alexa Turzian. DU’s best finisher was Kate Dolan in ninth place.
