A 20-year-old man allegedly assaulted a student at Prairie View High School this afternoon, which caused a brief lockdown after Brighton police found a knife in his pocket when he was arrested.
Police answered a call from the school at about 1 p.m. that Andrew Cordova had assaulted a student who allegedly had been harassing Cordova’s sister, police said.
When the officer patted down Cordova, he found the knife in Cordova’s pocket, and then Cordova became uncooperative and was arrested after “a minor scuffle,” according to a statement.
Cordova faces charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon on school grounds, interference with students of an educational institution and resisting arrest.
