Broncos head coach John Fox filled the final two vacancies on his coaching staff Tuesday when he hired two more of his former assistants from Carolina: Richard Smith to coach Denver’s linebackers and Ron Milus to coach the secondary.
Smith and Milus, who will start their second stints with the Broncos, join defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, who was hired Monday by Fox after interviewing last week.
Fox had his full staff together for the first time Tuesday at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., where they scouted players for the April 28-30 draft. The Broncos hold the No. 2 overall pick.
Fox, who is scheduled to be back in Denver today, has filled all of the position coach slots, though he might hire one or two more lower-level assistants. Fox’s staff, as it stands, includes five of Fox’s assistants from Carolina and seven coaches who have been held over from Josh McDaniels’ Denver staff. Allen is the only coach who wasn’t with Denver or Carolina last year.
