FORT LUPTON — A father-son shooting in Fort Lupton on Monday evening probably started with a fight over who was going to do the dishes, according to Weld County sheriff’s investigators.

The father, who apparently shot his adult son and then turned the .22 rifle to his own head, is in “grave” condition, according to Undersheriff Margie Martinez. It is likely the injuries will be fatal.

Martinez identified the father and son as Brad Kramer, 53, and Steve Kramer, 21.

The son suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and has been released from the hospital.

“They both had been drinking,” Martinez said, “and they got into an argument over who was going to do the dishes. The son left the kitchen and went to the basement.”

The father followed his son downstairs, carrying a .22 rifle. He shot at his son several times, hitting him once in the leg, she said.

“After shooting his son, the father turned the rifle around and shot himself in the head,” Martinez said. Greeley Tribune
