The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office today announced a scholarship program funded by the department’s charity event, the annual Shoot-Out at Sanctuary Golf Tournament in June.

The department will award 10 scholarships of $500 each: eight Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Scholarships, one Race-A-Cop Scholarship to attend a vocational college or program and one Ron King Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarships are available to graduating seniors from any Douglas County public high school, accredited private high school or a qualifying home school who are full-time county residents.

“The Sheriff’s Office considers this an investment in the future and believes we are helping to provide deserving students with an opportunity to make a positive contribution to society,” the department said in a media release today.
