Denver—Gov. John Hickenlooper’s nominee to head the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade plans to moonlight for about six months.
Related Snowmass President Dwayne Romero plans to work one day a week for the investment firm in Aspen and also work in the new post.
Hickenlooper spokesman Eric Brown tells The Denver Post that Romero will earn about $118,000—or nearly one-fifth less than the $146,040 that most other Cabinet members who would work for the state five days a week are earning.
State Attorney General John Suthers and Treasurer Walker Stapleton also have outside employment arrangements. Secretary of State Scott Gessler plans to do some work as a lawyer for his old law firm. He has said he will take care to avoid conflicts of interest.
