Colorado senior Katie Hartman won the gold medal in the women’s super-G race Saturday at the World University Games in Erzurum, Turkey, becoming the first CU skier to win gold in the event’s 25-year history.

After a 90-minute weather delay because of high wind and adverse conditions, the Breckenridge resident won Team USA’s only medal through Saturday, finishing with a time of 1:11.26.

Teammate Erika Ghent, a sophomore from Edwards, placed fourth with a time of 1:11.75.

The men’s super-G is today, with two Buffs scheduled to compete. Senior Gabriel Rivas is skiing for France and is seeded 22nd, and junior Taggart Spenst is seeded 31st for the United States.

Mammoth falls at Philadelphia.

The visiting Colorado Mammoth lost 12-11 to Philadelphia in a National Lacrosse League game Saturday night.

Trailing 10-4 after the first half, the Mammoth rallied to score four times in the third quarter while keeping Philadelphia scoreless to trim the deficit to 10-8 after three quarters. The Mammoth kept the pressure on, forcing Philadelphia goalie Brandon Miller to make 44 saves, but the Wings held on for the victory.

It was the second meeting between the teams, both one-goal victories by Philadelphia. The Mammoth dropped to 1-3 this season.

Fighting Sioux stomp CC.

Six North Dakota players scored and Danny Kristo assisted on three goals, helping the fourth-ranked Fighting Sioux rout Colorado College 6-0 in Colorado Springs.

North Dakota (19-8-2, 14-6-0 WCHA) rode a four-goal second period to its third win in its last four games at Colorado College (15-12-1, 9-9-0).

CC goalies Joe Howe and Josh Thorimbert combined for 26 saves.
