BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo.—The Colorado National Guard is formally welcoming home a military police battalion from Afghanistan.
A ceremony is planned Tuesday at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora. Gov. John Hickenlooper is scheduled to speak.
The 193rd Military Police Battalion spent a year in Afghanistan, operating a detention facility at Bagram Air Base. The unit also trained the Afghan army military police to eventually take over the prison.
Members of the battalion come from across Colorado.
