About 55 percent of students were in classrooms Wednesday when Denver Public Schools was the only district in the area to open during a day of bone-chilling temperatures.
On Wednesday, DPS estimated that as many as 65 percent of students, or 50,000, had attended classes. The district released final attendance tallies Thursday.
DPS spokeswoman Kristy Armstrong also said bus ridership in the morning was about 4,200. Average ridership for the routes is 9,500 students. Yesenia Robles, The Denver Post
