DENVER—Metro State College of Denver is considering changing its name.
College President Stephen Jordan announced three finalists on Thursday: Metropolitan State University of Denver, University of Central Colorado and Denver State University.
A fourth option is keeping the current name, which is officially Metropolitan State College of Denver.
A town hall meeting is scheduled for Wednesday to discuss the names.
Metro State is studying the perceptions of its name and whether a different name would improve its stature.
The college board of trustees voted in October to launch the study.
Metro State has more than 24,000 students. Its campus is just south of downtown Denver.
