The Aspen Music Festival expects to name a new music director by this spring, said president and chief executive Alan Fletcher.
“I think we’re extremely close,” he said. “I do think we’ll be announcing this spring, for sure — probably someone who will begin full time in the 2012 season but will be with us this summer.”
Conductor David Zinman, who served in the post for 13 years, abruptly resigned in April, exposing deep rifts among the faculty and leadership, and throwing the well-respected summer program into crisis.
