The Aspen/Snowmass Ski & Snowboard Open quickly has become one of the hottest contests in the nation for riders looking to throw down on the world-renowned Winter X Games slopestyle course and superpipe at Buttermilk.
Now in its sixth year, the event is open to all skiers and snowboarders — giving up-and-comers an opportunity to compete against the field of 350 for a stake in the $50,000 purse. Practice gets going today and Wednesday, with qualifying starting Thursday (men’s snowboard superpipe and ski slopestyle) and Friday. Entry fees range from $75 to $200, depending upon events, plus $35 for lift tickets on contest and practice days.
