Registration is open for Beaver Creek’s annual image-hardening event known as the Talons Challenge, and the resort known for “not exactly roughing it” is offering a special weekend of afternoon alpine skiing lessons to help competitors prepare.

Scheduled for Feb. 26, the Talons Challenge invites skiers to take on more than 24,000 vertical feet of Beaver Creek’s steepest and bumpiest terrain. This weekend’s Talons Tune-Up clinics are designed for skiers level 7 and up, focusing on skills for skiing bumps and steeps along with stamina strategies for finishing all 13 of the black and double-black diamond trails.

Details: Clinics take place Saturday and Sunday from 12:45 to 3:45 p.m. Sign up those days at any adult Beaver Creek Ski School locations. More info at Beavercreek.com.
