Two U.S. senators have written President Barack Obama, requesting a satellite of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office be established, they said in a joint statement.
Senators Michael Bennet and Mark Udall said there is a need for multiple offices so the patent office can be “responsive to economic demands.” In December the patent office said it would open its first satellite office in Detroit, and that it would boost the region’s innovation economy and create 100 new jobs there.
Adding a Denver satellite would “draw innovators to the state” and assist existing Colorado industries “that are dependent on the patent office,” the senators said in their statement.
