FORT CARSON, Colo.—Gov. John Hickenlooper says he’ll do what he can to help Fort Carson land a new combat aviation brigade.

Hickenlooper pledged his support Thursday during a tour of the Army post south of Colorado Springs. An Army environmental study says Fort Carson is the best location for the new brigade. A final decision is expected after March 7.

The Gazette reports that Hickenlooper was escorted on the tour by Brig. Gen. James Doty and Maj. Gen. Michael Edwards, adjutant general of Colorado.

Hickenlooper also toured Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.
