TORONTO — A Chinese asylum-seeker who boarded a flight from Hong Kong to Canada wearing a Hollywood-style disguise as an elderly white man has been released from Canadian custody after more than three months in detention.
The man boarded an Air Canada flight in Hong Kong on Oct. 29 wearing a remarkably detailed silicone mask.
Lawyer Daniel McLeod said Friday that his client was released on condition he post a $5,035 bond and report weekly to the Canada Border Services Agency. The man’s identity cannot be revealed because of a publication ban.
