COLUMBUS, Ohio — When the Avalanche tries to break a six-game losing streak tonight against Nashville, former Predator Peter Forsberg expects to be in the lineup.
“I don’t see any reason why I won’t play (tonight),” Forsberg said, after playing his first game in nearly three years Friday night.
Forsberg played for Nashville toward the end of the 2006-07 season, after a blockbuster trade with Philadelphia. He missed most of the following season until signing a free-agent contract with Colorado toward the end.
Injury updates.
Avalanche captain Adam Foote missed his second straight game with a leg injury. Since being traded by Columbus to Colorado in 2008, Foote has played only twice at Nationwide Arena.
Goalie Craig Anderson remained in Denver, attending to a personal matter. The Avs did not say if he would be back with the team in Nashville today.
Footnotes.
Avalanche third-line center Ryan O’Reilly was a healthy scratch. His play was not particularly impressive in the two games he played after returning from a shoulder injury. . . . Former Avs agitator Dan Hinote, now an assistant coach with Columbus, is one of Forsberg’s better friends in the game. The two exchanged pleasantries before the game. “If I still had any skill close to that, I’d still keep trying to play too,” Hinote said. . . . Avs defender John-Michael Liles had a rough night, mishandling one of Forsberg’s passes and finishing minus-3. . . . Jonas Holos played well in his return to the lineup in place of Kyle Cumiskey, going plus-1 in nearly 17 minutes of ice time.
