LAKEWOOD, Colo.—Eight people were injured when a 75-year-old man lost control of an SUV and crashed into a cellular phone store in suburban Denver.

Lakewood police spokesman Ty Countryman says five people, including the driver, were transported to a hospital following Saturday’s crash. Three people were treated at the scene and released.

Countryman identified the driver as Larry Faulkner of Wheat Ridge. He and a customer were in serious condition, while two customers and an employee suffered minor injuries.

Countryman says the SUV was heading east on Colfax Avenue near Wadsworth Boulevard before it veered over the median and crossed several lanes of traffic, crashing into a parked car and ricocheting into the store.

Countryman says Faulkner’s injuries appear to be from a “medical episode” that may have caused the crash.
