Denver has two new movie stars.
Jim and Debbie Lynch were vacationing in Maui last March when their hotel, the Grand Wailea, was invaded by the film crew and stars of “Just Go with It,” the new rom-com starring Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman and Brooklyn Decker.
They were hanging out in a bar and casually asked this guy if the movie was looking for any extras.
Were they! Before they could yell “ACTION!” Jim and Debbie were signed on for three 12-hour days of extra work because, Debbie says, someone thought they looked like “resort people.”
Their extra duties included sitting by the pool while Aniston, Kidman and Decker were hanging around.
“We were about 10 feet from them. It was amazing,” Debbie says.
They drank fake beer at the pool bar more than a dozen times. Jim laid in a cabana next to a beautiful extra for hours while Debbie sat sweating in the sun. Debbie was told to act drunk in another bar scene.
The Lynches went to a screening Thursday night and were back again Friday night with about 16 friends. “We have a little egg on our faces,” Debbie says. “We’re only in one scene in the movie and only for a second.”
Oh, the great unkindness of the cutting-room floor.
“But the whole experience was fun,” she says. “It was definitely more grueling then we expected. It gave us a new respect for actors. But we made about $10 an hour, then SAG wages the last day, so it paid for our car rental the whole time were were in Maui.”

St. Valentine’s Day is Monday, and the Avs Better Halves are feeling the love for baby bottoms. As part of a nationwide drive with Huggies and the NHL, the Better Halves will be hosting a diaper drive at the Pepsi Center before the game Monday. Fans are encouraged to bring packs of diapers to the game — or just donate money for diapers.
One couple who isn’t celebrating St. Valentine’s Day is longtime Denver broadcaster Ernie Bjorkman and his wife of 39 years, Susan Bjorkman. They are getting divorced. Ernie said Saturday, “It’s basically my fault. I fell in love with another woman. It came as a surprise, but that’s life.”
On the other hand, Denver ChopHouse & Brewery will honor 30 couples who have been married for more than 50 years with a free steak dinner Monday night.
Ain’t love grand?
