CRAIG, Colo.—Two Colorado senators are pushing to rename a veterans clinic in northwestern Colorado after a Medal of Honor recipient from Craig.

U.S. Sens. Mark Udall and Michael Bennet introduced legislation on Monday to rename the Department of Veterans Affairs telehealth clinic in Craig after Major William Edward Adams.

Adams was killed in action in Vietnam in 1971 and was honored posthumously for attempting to evacuate three injured soldiers by helicopter. All of them were killed in the attempt.

The legislation is continuation of an effort initiated by former congressman John Salazar. The entire Colorado delegation backed that legislation.

Bennet said Adams “embodied the independent and selfless spirit of the community he called home.”
