DURANGO, Colo.—Colorado Lt. Gov. Joseph Garcia is traveling to Durango to meet with members of the Ute Mountain Ute and Southern Ute tribes.
The meetings Thursday and Friday will be the first official meetings between Gov. John Hickenlooper’s administration and the tribes that are based in southwest Colorado. Hickenlooper took office in January.
As lieutenant governor, Garcia serves as chairman of the Colorado Commission on Indian Affairs. He and other state officials plan to discuss health, education and energy issues.
