A family of four was forced out of their Arvada home early this morning after a fire broke out around midnight.

Arvada Fire Department spokesman Scott Pribble says the blaze was contained to the back of the two-story home, located in the 6900 block of Torrey Street.

Firefighters were able to knock down the flames within about 10 minutes.

Pribble says they are still investigating what sparked the fire, which he says started outside the home.

The inside of the home sustained some smoke damage, but Pribble says much of the fire was contained to the basement. He expects the family to be displaced for at least a few days.
