State crews are still hoping to reopen by this weekend a stretch of U.S. 50 closed since a rockslide Monday.
The Colorado Department of Transportation said in a news release the reopening was “uncertain.”
Crews worked late into Thursday night and planned to continue trying to clear the rocks today.
Monday’s slide sent 20-foot boulders crashing onto the road about a mile west of Cotopaxi, closing the route between Cañon City and Salida. The crews were using drills and explosives to break up the boulders.
