THORNTON, Colo.—Thornton police say five people have died and four others have been injured in a three-vehicle crash.
Police tell Denver’s KUSA-TV that the crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the north-Denver suburb.
Police say a Ford Expedition headed south was driving erratically and crossed over the median into the northbound lanes and into an intersection where it hit a Mazda sedan. The SUV went airborne and the car ran into a store.
Police say the Ford landed on top of a pickup truck. All five people in the truck were killed. Police at first thought there were four people in the truck, but later found a fifth body.
Four people taken to the hospital included two juveniles. No names have been released.
