U.S. 50 will not reopen between Cañon City and Salida today as crews continue working to clear the debris from Monday’s rockslide, the Colorado Department of Transportation said.
“The process is going very slow due to the large size of the rocks. Crews are blasting, drilling and hammering the rocks to break them down and 10 trucks are on site hauling the material away,” CDOT spokeswoman Stacey Stegman said.
Stegman said it is unsure whether the road will be able to reopen Sunday.
