A 38-year-old man was killed in an early-morning collision Saturday after he allegedly ran a red light and was struck by an Xcel bucket truck.

Benjamin Rutledge was rushed to a hospital after the 2:15 a.m. accident and was later pronounced dead, said Lt. Chuck DeShazer, spokesman for the Aurora Police Department.

Greg Adams, 51, was driving the Xcel truck south on South Chambers Road and was making a left turn onto East Mexico Avenue when his truck hit Rutledge’s Mitsubishi Lancer, which was going north on Chambers.

Adams and a witness said Adams had a green turn arrow. Rutledge was not wearing a seat belt.
