RIO BLANCO COUNTY — The body of 19-year-old James Sizemore of Meeker was pulled from about 15 feet of snow Monday near the start of a slide that buried him and his snowmobile on Sunday afternoon.

About 60 searchers and dogs scoured the slope before finding Sizemore’s body about 2 p.m., said Rio Blanco County Undersheriff Michael Joos.

Sizemore and a companion were riding in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area in Routt National Forest, northeast of Meeker, when his snowmobile got stuck just before the avalanche engulfed him, Joos said. Joey Bunch, The Denver Post
