The name of an infant who died Saturday in Colorado Springs when he was taken off of life support has been released.

The Colorado Springs Police Department today identified the victim as 2-month-old Nicholas Johnson.

The boy’s babysitter, 23-year-old George Peters, has been charged with first-degree murder, according to police.

The El Paso County Coroner’s office has completed an autopsy and determined the infant died of head trauma. The coroner’s office ruled the death a homicide.

On Feb. 10 police responded to the 3900 block of Patrick Drive on a report of a child who was not conscious and was not breathing. The infant was taken to Memorial Hospital. He died Saturday after being taken off of life support.
