FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Police Capt. Jerry Schiager (SHAH’-ger) will become interim head of the Fort Collins Police Department when Chief Dennis Harrison steps down on April 15.
City officials made the announcement Wednesday. Harrison said two weeks ago he was retiring, but the date was not made public until this week.
Schiager joined the department in 1992. He’s currently the administrative captain.
The department has 170 officers and 88 civilian employees.
