Air Force senior Justin Tyner of Baxter, Minn., repeated as champion in the men’s 3,000-meter run Saturday at the Mountain West Conference indoor track and field championships in Albuquerque with a record time of 8 minutes, 16.72 seconds, helping the Falcons finish second in the men’s team standings.
Air Force’s 4 x 400-meter relay team of junior Manny Smith, sophomore Anthony Delgado, freshman Cory Engel and senior Chris Severino won the final event of the meet and set an MWC record in 3:12.79.
Colorado State’s Trevor Brown won the 60-meter hurdles. Wyoming’s winners Saturday were Mario Harris (60 meters) and Afiya Walker (400).
CU distance runner wins Big 12 title.
Emma Coburn was the lone champion for the University of Colo- rado at the Big 12 Conference indoor track and field championships in Lincoln, Neb., winning the 3,000- meter run with a time of 9:17.46. It was the second Big 12 title for Coburn, who won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2010 outdoor meet.
The CU women finished 11th with 29 points. Nebraska won with 115 1/2. Texas A&M won the men’s team title with 134 points. The CU men finished last with 17.
