Denver mayoral candidate James Mejia is the first to get approved for the May 3 ballot.
Mejia’s campaign on Feb. 15 turned in nearly 1,000 petition signatures from registered Denver voters.
On Friday, those signatures were verified by the Denver Clerk & Recorder’s Office. Candidates for mayor must collect 300 signatures from Denver voters. Those signatures must be verified by March 9 for the candidate to appear on the ballot.
