CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — Residents held open-air prayers for the dead and missing today on the lawns of churches shattered in New Zealand’s earthquake as teams searched for more bodies in what could become the country’s deadliest disaster.
Prime Minister John Key said the Christchurch quake may be the country’s worst disaster ever, as officials raised the toll to 146 dead and more than 200 missing.
