CASTLE ROCK, Colo.—Authorities outside Denver say four people have been arrested in last week’s slaying of a man and a woman, including the woman’s estranged husband.
The Douglas County sheriff’s office announced the arrests on Monday in the deaths of 39-year-old Amara Wells and 49-year-old Robert D. Rafferty. Investigators say that they were related through marriage but won’t provide any other details.
Among the four people accused in Wednesday’s slaying is Wells’ husband Christopher Wells, who was arrested the day before the slaying for allegedly sending harassing text messages to his wife.
Sheriff’s spokesman Ron Hanavan said the two were in the process of getting a divorce.
The other people arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder are 26-year-old Josiah Sher, 26-year-old Matthew Plake and 29-year-old Micah Woody. Investigators aren’t releasing their relationships to the victims.
