SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah House passed a bill requiring the children of illegal immigrants to prove their parents paid taxes to qualify for discounted in-state tuition.
Republican Rep. Carl Wimmer of Herriman says House Bill 191 would ensure the benefits of a subsidized education are given to Utah taxpayers.
The bill passed the House 44-28 on Monday and now moves to the Senate.
